Maze project requires some more thought

The proposal to retain a few iconic buildings at the Maze does not appear to have been given a lot of thought.

That small remaining prison complex would be out of context and would become relatively sad and meaningless submerged in a large site within other proposed developments.

It would obviously be less costly, and quite feasible, to remove the complex, lock stock and barrel and move to an alternative site within the historical republican ribbon.

The money saved could go to the provision of the delayed East-West Rapid Transit Link, an explicit, positive inter-community linkage fulfilling the intention of EU investment.

A possible suitable site within Lisburn is at Colin Glen Park, where it would become integral with the excellently managed, beautiful forest park centre.
