McGuinness can help us get truth

Martin McGuinness was quoted in your newspaper (News, March 22) saying he, as a republican, will not be "found wanting" in addressing the legacy of the Troubles.

Is this not an opportunity for him to address the atrocities carried out by the republican movement - particularly during the era when it used the Provisional prefix, as well as the years after that term was dispensed with? An acceptance of responsibility and apology might help bring people closer to the truth.
