Myers is right: charity has to begin at home
I READ the Kevin Myers article 'Church's first mission lies at home, not in Honduras' (Comment, April 1) and I agree with him completely.
Many people have forgotten the old saying, 'charity begins at home'. If you cannot sustain yourself, you cannot lend a helping hand eslewhere. We need to re-capture that spirit.
Preserving, protecting, enhancing and sustaining Christian families down the street in Ireland is more vital than some project half-way around the world.
I applaud worthy projects. But I agree with Kevin Myers: if we tend to our own backyards, we will all be better off. Plenty of local needs require attention.
