Northern Ireland election 2017 has echoes of joke by Dave Allen

The Assembly election reminds me of the amusing anecdote told by the late Dave Allen about a heated conversation between an atheist and the Pope, discussing the existence of God.

The Pope remarked to the atheist that he was like a man totally blindfolded in a darkened room, looking for a black cat that is not there.

The atheist replied to His Holiness that, in fact, there was a great similarity between them both: he was also like a man in a darkened room totally blindfolded looking for a black cat that isn't there; the only difference was that the Pope had found the black cat.
