Nurses have long known of crisis

I AM writing to express my feelings about the RCN's emergency care summit on Wednesday, February 19.

The concerns that were raised with Mr Poots, Health Minister, on Wednesday and documented in the newspapers, were identical to the concerns my colleagues and I raised with the minister in writing and to the MLAs on the Health Committee some 12 months ago, regarding our ongoing concerns in the NH and SCT at the Antrim Area Hospital.

We, as nurses, entered the profession to nurse and care for patients and we all remain passionate about the job we do. However, we are all feeling battered, bruised, threatened and intimidated by the ongoing crisis in our hospitals.

We wait with bated breath for the Health Minister's response and what action he will take to deal with our concerns.
