Paisley sermon worth hearing

While visiting from Scotland and having heard of the Rev Ian Paisley I decided to hear him in person at the Martyrs' Memorial in Belfast. I was not disappointed.

He was direct, uncompromising and powerful in his address and there was an invitation at the end for anyone convicted by the Spirit to speak with him in private.

I took the opportunity of going to chat to this indomitable icon. He was a gentle giant, full of grace and humility, spiced with humour.

I asked if Gerry Adams or Martin McGuinness had ever come to hear him preach and he said 'No'. I would appeal to your readers - including Adams and McGuinness - 'never say never'.

Whether you are young, old or middle-aged, Catholic, Protestant or secular, gay, straight or mixed-up, go and hear this man. You will be pleasantly surprised.
