Pastor was only telling the truth about Islam

IT seems Pastor James McConnell of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in Belfast has caused quite a sensation. Why? Because, as an evangelical Protestant minister, he loudly proclaimed, without compromise, the unchanging truth of God's word from his pulpit.

Surely nothing less than this is expected of a man who has been called by God into the Christian ministry? He is to preach the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

What a pity we don't have more godly and faithful preachers of biblical integrity in the pulpits of our land. Our country would for certain be more morally upright and socially respectable than it currently is.

One wonders why the spotlight is on Mr McConnell, when he frankly declared that, "Islam is heathen, Islam is satanic and Islam is a doctrine spawned in hell". This, along with many other things, it unquestionably is.

The reality is clearly evident for the world to see in the heart-breaking story of the pregnant woman in Sudan, Meriam Yahya Ibrahim, who was sentenced to death because she refused to recant her Christian beliefs. If this is Islam, then it is barbaric.

Every religion that does not point to Christ alone for eternal salvation is heathen. There is only one religion that has the truth and there is only one name that saves a sinner, whether that sinner be Muslim, Roman Catholic or Protestant – and that name is the Lord Jesus Christ.
