People with HIV can lead full and positive lives

I AM writing in response to your article 'Man who tried to sell HIV "cure" sentenced' (News, July 24).

Positive Life is the only HIV-specific charity in Northern Ireland supporting people living with and affected by HIV.

We welcome the decision taken by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency to pursue a case against Admare Jinga, who by his actions preyed upon some of the most vulnerable people by falsely claiming his products could 'cure' HIV.

Unfortunately, in spite of worldwide efforts, there is still no cure for HIV. However, we feel it is extremely important to emphasise the point that a HIV positive diagnosis is no longer a death sentence and, with early diagnosis, adherence to medication and good social support, people living with HIV can live full, positive lives.
