Pope visit will spark unrest in the city again

ONCE again, we see the Rev John Mann trying to raise the tattered flag of yet another ecumenical service – this time by inviting Pope Francis not only to our city, but to address what he calls an "ecumenical and cross-community service".

Does he not realise that here is a man that is not only the head of the 'greatest' sex-abuse religious movement in the world, but also the head of a movement that has shielded IRA murders from the police for years.

It is a fact that priests have hidden behind the confessional for years.

I fully agree with Councillor Jim Rodgers that the Pope's visit to Belfast would heighten sectarian tension that could bring riots once again to our city.
