Public ownership is the way to go

As a local historian, I was interested in your story about Lough Neagh being privately-owned (News, April 18).

My own lovely village green is privately owned by a local family.

It is known as unclaimed ground and is maintainted by Dungannon District Council. Recently, my privately-owned village green was renovated.

I expected an official re-opening ceremony, but this was not to be. I look forward to both going into public ownership.
