Put Sinn Fein on the back foot over parades

Isn't it time unionism stole a march on the issue of contentious parades? Comparisons are often drawn between republican parades and the presence of flute bands with loyalist paramilitary connections at Orange demonstrations. The latter are relatively few in number, whereas republican parades have the glorification of terrorism as their sole objective.

Why not remove the "what-aboutery" from the issue?

I would call on the Loyal Institutions to ban any bands that have connections with or that seek to glorify loyalist terrorism from accompanying their lodges on demonstrations. I would also call on unionist politicians, and the SDLP, to table a motion banning all parades with a paramilitary dimension across the province.

This would put the ball firmly back in Sinn Fein's court.
