Realities of a Scots vote for independence
PROFESSOR Peter Shirlow (News, August 21) considers that a 'Yes' vote in the Scottish independence referendum could, perhaps, lead to the unification of the north and south of Ireland.
Commentators have failed to consider the prospect of a large inward migration of Scottish loyalists to Northern Ireland should Scotland leave the Union.
Paradoxically, the demographic ties between Northern Ireland and mainland GB would be considerably strengthened.
