Referendum could solve Stormont crisis

Secretary of State James Brokenshire has given the two main parties here an amusing ultimatum: if they have not cobbled together an agreement within the deadline of the next few weeks yet another snap election will result.

This being the case, rather than rehash the same old useless candidates via single transferable vote, would it not be better just to have a referendum on the simple question: do you wish to continue to have devolved government in Northern Ireland - yes or no?
