CAN I point out to Harry Stephenson (Write Back, July 21) that Christians are not the only ones opposed to further relaxation of Sunday trading laws?
The general secretary of the TUC and the shopworkers' union Usdaw are also very opposed to it - as well as small shopkeepers. So please don't use this as an excuse to deride Christians.
Humanity seems to be hard-wired towards one day in seven of rest. Two secular nations which tried to alter that - the French after the revolution and communist Russia - had to go back to the original seven-day week, with one rest day included.
