Scotland Brexit claim is blatant scaremongering

NIO minister Ben Wallace (in his evidence to the Northern Ireland Affairs Select Committee) says Scotland may leave the UK if there is a Brexit. This is a blatant scare story.

Mr Wallace should know that it has just been revealed by the Scottish Affairs Committee that Scotland has a £15bn black hole at the heart of its finances - double that of any other part of the UK per head of population. There is no way it would leave under such circumstances.

When the last Scottish referendum took place the price of oil was $100 a barrel; now it is £40 a barrel.

Scotland will soon be bankrupt. In the Scottish referendum, 24% more people voted to stay in the UK than voted to leave. Today, the present margin for staying in the UK will be even greater.

Mr Wallace is scaremongering.
