Scottish Independence: Double standards in borders issue
I READ a column in the Belfast Telegraph by Nelson McCausland (DebateNI, September 11) and had a right good laugh.
In it, he criticised Sinn Fein for their hypocrisy in supporting Scottish independence and, therefore, supporting an international border on the island of Great Britain, while at the same time wanting an international border on the island of Ireland removed.
Well, of course, the minister is correct in this. But, surely, the same double standard can also be levelled at unionists, who support the continuance of an international border on the island of Ireland, but do not want an international border created in Great Britain.
