Sectarianism a social problem, not football one

RECENTLY Linfield and Cliftonville were both fined £3, 000 by the Irish Football Association disciplinary committee for alleged incidents of sectarian singing at a Co Antrim Shield game. Following an appeal, the IFA committee found in favour of the clubs. If there is a problem of sectarian singing, both clubs would have taken measures to eradicate it, but this is a social problem, not a football one.
