SF bus stance at odds with GFA
I NOTE with interest the judicial review ruling by Mr Justice Treacy on October 25, forcing the Department of Education to reconsider its decision to refuse to provide a dedicated bus service to Colaiste Feirste, a post-primary Irish language school in west Belfast.
It is astonishing that former Education Minister, Caitriona Ruane, failed to back a pilot bus scheme for pupils travelling to Colaiste Feirste from south Down.
It is even more astounding that the department and Ms Ruane argued that a statutory duty enshrined in the Good Friday Agreement to encourage and facilitate Irish-medium education was only "aspirational".
Why did a Sinn Fein minister try to undermine the Good Friday Agreement?
