'Shoot and kill' speech was far from Carsonian

In his obituary of Bill Craig, Barry White describes as "Carsonian" a speech which the late unionist politician gave to Conservatives at Westminster (News, April 28).

In this speech, Craig claimed that he could mobilise 80,000 men and said he was prepared "to shoot and kill". That last claim is, contrary to Barry White, decidedly un-Carsonian.

Mr White will search Carson's speeches in vain for any threats to shoot and kill.
