Sickened by GPs' plans to charge patients

GPs are now suggesting that we pay for our consultations in an attempt to cut down on the number of people making "unnecessary" visits to their doctor.

So, we're supposed to diagnose ourselves prior to an appointment to establish whether or not our symptoms warrant an appointment?

The cost of their proposed consultations will range from £25 to £150, depending on income.

People who are already struggling financially will avoid going to the doctor which could lead to serious illnesses going undiagnosed. This isn't the health service – this is private medical care.

I don't understand how they're overrun with patients, as seemingly all they do is refer everyone to A&E. This is why our A&E departments are under strain.
