Sisters express thanks through the Telegraph

THIS letter of thanks is long overdue. Our parents, Paul and Dorothy Nelson, were both killed in the La Mon restaurant bombing 35 years ago when we were 13 (Melanie) and 14 (Andrea).

The support we received from the people of Northern Ireland has made a longstanding impact on our lives. With the help of the Belfast Telegraph, we want to acknowledge our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the public collection in 1978 and to our friends, family and schoolteachers.

That generosity has allowed us both to pursue our education. Melanie graduated this summer with a degree in Sociology and Criminology. Andrea is a nurse and Professor of Wound Healing at the University of Leeds and we live near each other in Yorkshire.
