Support boxer's bid for freedom

On one hand, our Government sends troops to Afghanistan and Iraq in the name of democracy and freedom, but at the same time sends political refugees back to meet torture and possible execution in places like Iran and Zimbabwe.

Five-time Iranian boxing champion Abbas Fayaz Abadi fled his homeland in fear after his wife was beaten by a state guard during an anti-regime march. Immigration officers have rejected his requests for citizenship. As a national hero Abbas will not escape punishment by a regime notorious for its viciousness and torture.

In Liverpool, he has already made a contribution by coaching young people.

Please write to your MP to help this national sporting champion box for Britain and land a punch for freedom in Iran.
