Take action or David's death will be in vain

I HEARD on the news that the body of a man had been found in Belfast's New Lodge area. He had been stabbed. I thought, "That's dreadful."

Later, I heard that his name was David Corr and he was only 24 years old.

Then I felt dreadful. A young man - hardly more than a boy - stabbed. Why?

I am old enough to remember a time when a young girl could have walked home along any road in Belfast without concern.

I hope that David Corr's death will be a turning-point. I hope that David will not be just another statistic.

I am going to write to my MLA and ask him to start taking action to ensure David's death will not be in vain.

I urge your readers to do the same, because, next time, it could be your son or daughter. These killings must stop.
