Termination defence simply doesn't add up

FIONOLA Meredith urges readers to vote for candidates who want reform of the abortion laws and to support "a woman's right, when confronted by impossible circumstances, to choose what happens to her own body".

Fionola's reasoning is flawed. In abortion, the mother (assuming she is not coerced) chooses not to do something to her body, but to that of her child; and for the unborn child concerned, the consequences of abortion are only too imaginable - the result is death.
