The silence of the Church has been deafening
Much has been said recently about the role of Cardinal Sean Brady in the investigation of child sex abuse in 1975.
Cardinal Brady himself has indicated that he did his duty at that time by passing on information to his superiors as requested.
However, even giving him the benefit of the doubt, as time went by at what stage did he realise that little was being done to protect children from abuse?
Rarely a word was heard from any bishop and, even in recent days, given the amount of debate on this issue, no one from the Church at a senior level has had the moral courage to state the Church's position.
They have forsaken the Christian principles on which the Church was founded.
