There's always time for the arts
I was bemused to read David Hilditch and William Humphrey's comments in the Belfast Telegraph (News, Jan 8) about people not having time for the arts.
I am also busy and I find going to the theatre or seeing a movie both enjoyable and also re-energising.
It is excellent to hear that Audience NI research found that ticket sales for a range of arts outlets were £1.3m last year, equivalent to filling the Ulster Rugby ground 72 times - proof that people are not too busy to support the arts.
I also think that to pigeon-hole Protestant working class communities as having little interest in arts is both unfounded and unfair. Being exposed to the arts opens your mind, and allows us to see culture as something beyond orange or green.
Perhaps Mr Hilditch and Mr Humphrey would benefit from more exposure to the rich cultural tapestry in Northern Ireland.
