Time to lower the volume on airport noise

I live in south Belfast and, over the years, the noise from George Best Belfast City Airport seems to have grown more and more intolerable.

The summer is particularly bad, but all year round the noise and reverberations can be so bad the windows rattle, you can't hear yourself speak and, if you're having a conversation outside, forget it.

I work from home and it is a significant disruption to my work. Certainly, this is not all the time, but it is often enough to have become a real aggravation and is unnecessary.

Belfast International operates well under capacity, even though the International can operate all year round in all conditions; it is not in a built-up area and all it requires is a an efficient rail link.

Why can't the Environment Minister address this first and then consider what needs to be done about George Best Belfast City Airport?
