Time we linked up Comber Greenway

The Connswater Community Greenway is now completed and been officially opened. The positive outcomes of this prestigious project for east Belfast, and further afield, cannot be denied.

It has been a good investment.

Running from Victoria Park up into the Cregagh Glen and incorporating CS Lewis Square, the project delivers many community opportunities and benefits.

There is now a chance to create a connection by building on the Connswater's success and developing the Comber Greenway to a similar high standard.

Creating a sister project by bringing the two Greenways together would create a significant traffic-free walking and cycling route from Holywood Arches into the heart of Comber.

This sister project would also deliver long-term health benefits, job opportunities and overall environmental improvements. Belfast City Council and the Northern Ireland Assembly have debated and supported the Comber Greenway's development.

It's another community investment opportunity that should not be missed.
