Tory link may turn out to be cynical ploy

In the Westminster election campaign, 'Ulster Unionists' spoke with passion and conviction about their Tory credentials. Their support for David Cameron, and all he stands for, was both impressive and unwavering.

One can assume, therefore, that when it comes to the Assembly election these same Ulster Unionists will bring to the hustings their same Conservative ideology.

If not, then they are guilty of one of the most cynical and unprincipled ploys ever perpetrated by any political party in Northern Ireland.

So, voters should remember this next year when electing their MLAs. In addition, anyone advocating unionist cohesion, to quote Nigel Dodds, should remember who their bedfellows are and be prepared to justify any such alliance.
