Ulster Scots deserves equality with Gaelic
As negotiations go on at Stormont about a possible agenda for government and Sinn Fein push a number of issues, I hope the DUP ensures equality for Ulster Scots language and culture.
If there is to be an Irish Language Act, there must be an equal Ulster Scots Act, both with the same amount of funding.
If road signs are to include Irish translations, they should also include Ulster Scots translations. Likewise for translations of official documents and so on.
Similarly, funding given to Irish-medium schools should be matched by equal funding for the promotion of Ulster Scots culture in State-controlled schools.
Sinn Fein has demanded equality for all, so they must surely support this.
