Vital Nomadic is so overlooked

It was with a sense of disappointment that I read the comments of Frank McEvoy (Write Back, August 1).

SS Nomadic had, in fact, many connections with Titanic. It was built alongside Titanic by the same workers using exactly the same materials and methods. Looking at the interior of Nomadic transports you straight back to 1912 and the Olympic-class liners.

Nomadic spent more than fifty five years in Cherbourg serving Olympic, Titanic's sister ship, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth - not to mention acting as a troop ship in both world wars.

Surely this grand old centenarian deserves to be restored to her former glory and form a fitting centrepiece to Belfast's Titanic commemoration?
