WELL done to the 44% of people who voted to name the new bridge in Victoria Park after Sam Thompson, a dramatist from the shipyard, who led the way in writing about working-class life and Northern Ireland politics (News, October 11).
Thompson's famous play, Over The Bridge, encouraged audiences to consider the issues of injustice, bigotry as well as sectarianism.
I hope those who cross it will remember his plea for tolerance in Belfast.
