We need a cull of our MLAs
I thought we had got rid of one multi-jobber in East Belfast at the last Westminster election, namely Peter Robinson. But what did we get in his place? Another multi-jobber, Naomi Long.
When she and the other Stormont MLAs were elected to Westminster to become MPs they should have resigned as MLAs immediately.
But, no, they have decided to hold onto their Stormont positions, salary and tax-free allowances with the exception of Ian Paisley Jnr who is leaving Stormont next month.
Thereafter, these positions should not be filled. Instead a severe cull of MLAs is required to reduce the cost of the upkeep of the Assembly and the money saved could go towards the block grant and have the cuts to the NHS reduced.
The healthcare of the sick is more important than the surplus MLAs we have.
