We need soldiers on streets like rest of UK

The decision to raise the UK threat level to critical (meaning an attack is imminent) was taken, in part, because the Government and security services believe the Manchester bomber could not have acted alone.

The immediately noticeable change for the public in England, Scotland and Wales will be troops guarding key instillations and public venues as part of Operation Templar.

The PSNI Chief Constable has confirmed the critical-level threat applies to Northern Ireland also, but no troops will be deployed here, leaving this additional task to an already overstretched police service.

Are we in NI now so subservient to republican sentiment that the population cannot be afforded the same protections from international terrorists as the rest of the UK, so signalling to Islamist extremists that NI may be an easier target for further attacks?
