IT is surprising and disappointing that none of the political parties nor the Press seem to have realised that we have arrived at a new political landscape.
Thanks to Scotland we have arrived, de facto, at decentralisation. Whatever Scotland gets the rest of the UK – Northern Ireland, England and Wales – must also get.
The United Kingdom is meaningless gargle unless we are all the same.
There must be four regional parliaments for regional issues and one central body for national interests on which all four are represented: defence and European membership, for example.
The dictatorship of Westminster is finished with this considerable expansion of real democracy and how Cameron, Clegg and Milliband will try to backtrack on their pledges will make fascinating theatre, but will hopefully be doomed to failure or ridicule.
