Why are we being excluded?

A scheme allowing parents to check if someone is a sex-offender will be rolled out across England and Wales by March 2011, the Home Office says.

A year-long pilot has already protected 60 children.

A similar scheme is to be launched in Scotland. Under the scheme, police can give parents more information about someone who has access to their children.

So why is Northern Ireland being excluded from this scheme?

According to the PSNI, there are 180 sex offenders living in south and east Belfast alone.

Do the parents in those areas not have the right to know if any of those offenders have access to their children?
