Why did screen ignore the Big Man's death?

ON Saturday, September 13, at 1.15pm, I was passing through Belfast City Hall grounds and looked up at the big screen. There was a video about culture in Belfast, some sports news items and six news headlines. None reported the death of former First Minister, Ian Paisley.

Dr Paisley died on Friday, but two British actors, whose deaths occured on September 11 and 12 respectively, were still making two of the six headlines.

The small print on the screen said the source for the headlines was BBC News.

I checked the BBC NI website later, and the Big Man's death was still headline news there. It begs the question what the editorial policy for these news items is, when a man of such huge political significance in Northern Ireland was ignored.

Little wonder those who feel marginalised wave flags at City Hall gates.
