I have used the Enterprise between Dublin and Belfast for a number of years but have always been puzzled by the lack of soap in the toilets.
Recently, on the 7pm from Dublin, I asked the conductor about the absence. I was told that this was a deliberate policy by Translink - the reason remains unclear.
One of the catering staff later told me that the dedicated staff facilities, for the employees concerned with preparation and service of food, were out of service and they were expected to use the public facilities.
Reflecting on the lack of soap in those, I decided to skip dinner.
It would be nice to think that someone in Translink would be held responsible for this decision and pay an appropriate penalty for their utter contempt for the safety and health of their customers.
In future, sandwiches and a flask may be a suitable strategy.
