Young families need incentives

Children are not all born equal in the eyes of Chancellor George Osborne, it would seem.

Child benefit is an allowance that is claimed on behalf of children. Osborne's move to abolish it discriminates against thousands of children in this country whose parents are already paying a hefty 40p in the pound tax to support the welfare state.

Children whose parents have worked hard to progress in order to provide a better life for them are now going to be punished for it by this Government. Mothers who have decided to take career breaks to nurture them during crucial early years are also going to suffer. Would future generations not be better served by giving people incentives to work and better themselves rather than penalising them for it?
