You're welcome – so long as you aren't Irish

COMPETITORS and their guests from more than 60 countries attended the World Police and Fire Games.

I watched media interviews with competitors, where they have expressed surprise and gratitude at the friendly welcome that they received in Belfast and across the region.

It gives one a real sense of pride to hear of the warm welcome for people from so many foreign countries, representing many cultures, races, ethnic groups and creeds.

Yes, our wee country can be rightly proud of its welcome to all cultures. Except, of course, Irish.
