But now Tory Andrew Rosindell has raised the bar. He wants to change the law so the monarch's face greets every overseas arrival.
"There is absolutely no excuse for not affording Her Majesty the respect that she deserves at our border as the United Kingdom's head of state," he said, calling for portraits at entry points.
