Top marks over fuel fraud fight

The damage caused by fuel fraud, which costs taxpayers millions in lost revenue, has been highlighted recently by the Northern Ireland Affairs committee.

And the Treasury seems to be taking heed by launching a search for a new marker to identify low-duty diesel that is illegally sold on as road fuel.

Tax authorities in the Republic of Ireland have also signed up to the international tendering exercise to try to find a better marker for both countries to use.
