One man and his dog teach cowardly robbers a lesson

Editor's Viewpoint

A dog is often said to be man's best friend, and that certainly was the case when thugs burst into the Co Down home of 84-year-old Trevor Derby looking to steal cash. For the plucky pensioner was aided in his fight against the gang by his little Cairn Terrier, Archie.

He may be small in stature but Archie has the heart of a lion and nipped at the heels of the would-be robbers, finally forcing them to flee empty-handed from the property. Both Trevor and his faithful companion showed immense courage, in stark contrast to the cowardly gang who probably thought they would get easy pickings. What heroes.
