Granda Joe has spoken, and as ever Ian McElhinney has a voice well worth listening to.

Whatever words he utters always drip off the tongue like silky smooth warm chocolate.

The Derry Girls star feels the ending to the hit show was perfect, and it should be enjoyed for a while longer before any thoughts turn to of a spin-off. All good things must come to an end, and you certainly can’t say that Derry Girls has outstayed its welcome.

Endings are never easy, Ian was a key part in the early seasons of Game of Thrones and that proved how difficult it is to keep fans content with how things wrap up.

“The thing about Lisa (McGee) that was already evident from season one is that she’s brilliant on endings and one of the hardest things to do as a writer is to know when and how and where to say ‘That’s the end’,” he said.

But you don’t have to take our word for his words — you can listen n to our exclusive chat with the actor in the latest Belfast Telegraph podcast. It sounds so much better coming directly from him!
