There is a lot of gloomy news during these uncertain times in the run-up to Christmas, but there is also some good news that can warm all our hearts.

Yesterday more than 100 homeless people were given free haircuts by Belfast barber Kenny Parker.

Mr Parker noted that a haircut and a beard trim make people feel good.

Acts of kindness make those in need feel that somebody cares for them.

Such thoughtfulness and practical help shows the true spirit of Christmas, and everyone involved should be commended for their thoughtfulness and practical help for the homeless.
