The humble filled soda is a dish that served with a large mug of piping hot tea has saved many a hungover traveller.

It’s a well known local delicacy that has earned its place in the Northern Irish breakfast hall of fame, but could you eat a 2.2lb soda filled to the brim with the contents of an Ulster Fry multiplied by eight?

That’s exactly what international food blogger Randy Santel did this week while his partner Katina Dejarnett tackled an equally enormous sweet challenge at Safari restaurant in Banbridge. As if that wasn’t enough there were two bowls of potato and leek soup thrown in for good measure.

The couple travel the world taking on food challenges and have earned themselves a following of over 1.2 million online as a result.

Randy has now beaten the Banbridge challenge.

His reward was a free T-shirt and might we suggest an afternoon nap to sleep it off?

To the team at Safari, well done on reaching the global stage with your monster soda and friendly welcome.
