Fra McCann is lucky to be alive today.

The lorry driver suffered serious facial injuries when a rock dropped from a bridge smashed his windscreen.

A bin containing rocks was thrown from the Ballyboley overpass on the A8 Larne road on Friday night.

Miraculously, Fra, who is in his 50s, was able to keep control of his vehicle and bring it safely to a stop.

Anyone who knowingly drops a bin full of rocks from a height onto a moving vehicle is committing attempted murder - or worse. Police have appealed for witnesses, or anyone with dash-cam footage of the incident, to come forward.

On this occasion, Fra was lucky not to have been killed. The next road user attacked in this manner may not be so lucky.

If you have any information, contact the police and put the perpetrators where they belong - behind bars.
