People will welcome the news that the UK and the US have agreed to give the wreck of RMS Titanic greater protection.

The treaty enhances "basic protections" that have been put in place by UNESCO, and ensures that this iconic vessel's last resting-place is adequately preserved.

It is also the watery graveyard of more than 1,500 souls who perished, and they should be afforded the respect and peace they deserve after all this time.

The Titanic story has been told in so many different ways already, and this new treaty for the protection of her last site underlines to all of us that it is time to move on.
