There was no beating about the bush... she had to have one.

And now the sound of the Lambeg drum has been revitalised thanks to a resurgence in popularity of the elusive and somewhat eccentric 80s pop star Kate Bush, her 1985 chart-topper Running Up That Hill racing up the charts around the world again almost four decades later.

It’s one of those Stranger Things that can happen in the music industry. Thanks to the popularity of the Netflix series — season four was released last week to rave reviews — the song, which features a Lambeg drum bought from Sandy Row and which plays a key part in the storyline, has been introduced to millions not born when it was first released.

The tale of how the drum came to provide the backdrop to the hit song is one of those right place, right time things (page 3).

Those with a passion for the thunderous beats will be delighted the instrument is getting an introduction to a whole new audience.

We do hope Kate wasn’t carrying it when she was running up that hill though...
