Not many students would demonstrate the same determination to succeed in their studies as Northern Ireland girl Conni Dawson.
Forced to take extreme measures because she can’t afford to rent in Dublin she has decided to spend the next four years living in her campervan.
Like the star of the Oscar-winning film Nomadland, which chronicles the lives of people who spend their lives travelling through the vast Mid West of the USA, Conni can argue that she is not homeless, just houseless. A professional harpist, Conni found her musical work dried up overnight because of the Covid pandemic and being unwilling to take out a loan to fund her landscape architecture course at University College Dublin she turned to her trusty campervan which she had used to travel to gigs.
Now she plans to park at the university during the day and find somewhere safe to park at night.
Her story is a remarkable one and on determination alone she deserves to complete her course with flying colours.
